2 2 2 4 WIRE ROPE SHEAVES

MANUFACTURED TO AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS 1418-1. 2002 S.A.A CRANE CODE, PART 1.
For application on cranes, lifting mechanisms, shiploaders, conveyor belt tensioning and shuttle trucks to name
a few. They may be load carrying, equalising or conveyor take-up sheaves. Sheaves can be stacked, side by side,
in frames, though not shown on drawing, or in blocks. Streamlined design permits stacking within limited space.

                  SHEAVE MATERIAL

                 GREY CAST IRON AS1830
                 Normal grade T250 (Tensile)

SG IRON (NODULAR OR DUCTILE IRON) AS1831
Standard grade supplied is 400-250-12 having tensile and elongation below C3 steel.
Wear and load carrying capacity is superior to cast iron but slightly less than steel.

                 CAST STEEL AS2074
Unless otherwise specified C3 grade supplied, i.e. 0.25% Max Carbon Mild steel. For higher strength and wear
                 ‘C6’ may be specified.

                 STEEL PLATE AS3678–GRADE 250–6mm to 300
Grade 350 available in some thicknesses. Small sheaves and rollers sometimes manufactured from steel
plates when more economical than casting. Refer to crane code table 7.8.5 “Permissible compressive stress’
                 for various materials.

                  TECHNICAL DATA

BEARINGS INA SLO4 . . . Series double row sealed cylindrical roller bearings are used in standard range.
INA PERMAGLIDE BUSHES can be used where low loads and low R.P.M allow teflon (P.T.F.E)
bushes to be used. Special bearing requirments on application.
BEARING LIFE Bearing life can be calculated for specific applications by our technical department.
No general formula is applicable as safety factor, fleet angle, angle of wrap and required life
                                  vary according to Australian Standards.

FRAMES Frame Assemblies may be ordered to specification shown in table 3. Material is structural
                                  steel plate to AS3678–Grade 250.

SHAFTS Standard shafts are machined from K1045 steel bar and supplied together with keepers
when frames are ordered. For sheave only requirements we can also provide shafts to suit
                                  your dimensions.
                 FINISH Standard paint is:
                                        a) Prime coat–red oxide–zinc phosphate.
                                        b) Industrial enamel finish coat – colour dependant on material.
Special enamel or epoxy paint systems may be specified for quotation.
Machine surfaces are protected with rust preventive fluid.

ROPE GUARD Prevents slack rope leaving sheave. Rope guards may be positioned at varying angles to
suit angle of wrap. One rope guard supplied as standard with each frame. Where additional
guards are required then this must be specified.
LUBRICATION Lubrication facility is available through shaft as shown.

QUALITY CONTROL High quality standards are maintained. Certified material and testing such as X-ray,
ultrasonic, etc., is available on request.

We are also able to manufacture guide rollers, support rollers and small track and flanged rollers.
